About Me
My name is Mary Kathryn Barry and I was born and raised in the Queen City - Charlotte, North Carolina. For my undergraduate I attended the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!) where I earned a B.A.E. in Secondary English Education, with minors in mild/moderate Special Education and Social Studies education. Outside of my love for all things English, I am interested in European history and American history, particularly in regards to Southern Studies. I am particularly interested in the intersection of race, place, and space in the American South region and the way that has influence both the history and literary traditions of the South.
I recently graduated this past May, and have since moved to Biloxi, MS. Come August I will begin my teaching job in the neighboring community of Gulfport, MS. I will be teaching English I to 9th graders. Currently, I am spending my summer taking graduate coursework through the Bread Loaf School of English. I am studying Teaching Multimodal Writing in a Digital Age and Like Poetry: Reading, Writing, Teaching
